Method of the Avena Sativa
using for saliva PH and Amyloclastic Force correction of the elderly patients with the chronic gastritis.

It’s known now from numerous epidemiological and statistical studies chronic gastritis is universally recognized primary or secondary pathology of the elderly patients. Inflammation of the gastric mucosal wall affects on the all gastrointestinal tract, involved oral cavity. In our previous dates we demonstrated decreasing of the saliva PH and Amyloclastic Force of the patients with gastritis. This dysfunction induces inhibition of the enzymes complex of saliva ( ? -amylase, lipase) and can leads to the disturbance, of meals hydrolytical splitting in the intestinuum with the dyspepsia symptoms, hyper secretion of the pancreatic gland and overweight. However, avoiding of the first step of normal digestion by the saliva enzymatic complex with the gastritis elevates mechanical and chemical stress of meals mixture on the gastric epithelial cells and slows down the reconvalescent period. So, very important is founding and selection of the easy able, effective and economical forms for treatment and restoring of the functional activity of the stomach and digestive juices.
We used Latvian domestic plant – Avena Sativa grain tea in the clinical pilot experiment.
Avenus sativa as active agents contains: mucilages, pectic substances, lignans, lignans, polysaccharides, hemicelluloses, pantothenic acid (vitamin B 5), Zn, Se, Mn, traceelements.
We observed 12 women-patients 58-74 y.o. with the clinical diagnosis of chronic gastritis in the remission phase and tested acidic-alkaline balance (PH) by the PH-meter (“Hanna”) in the native saliva and Amyloclastic Force (amylolytic activity), D 38?C, 30 min by the standard routine method in the Medical Biochemistry Department Laboratory of the Riga’s Stradin University before and after 14 days treatment. The experimental course included the tea ( 15,0 g on the 250 ml boiled water) using 3 times per day between meals and gymnastic with energetical complex by the training teacher.
RESULTS :
PH at the beginning has registrated in the 6,12-6,51 interval; D 38?C 30min rises to 640 – 1280 after treatment.
CONCLUSION:
These changes show the healing properties of the Avena Sativa grain tea, so returning to the normal condition of the acidic-alkaline balance of saliva supports and determinate physiological functions of the enzymes activity in the oral cavity and facilitate digestion in the stomach and other levels of the gastrointestinal system.
This method – using of Avena Sativa grain tea and special energetical complex by training teacher can prevent more serious complications of the gastritis in the elderly persons.
Evaluation of the saliva amylase activity
The amylase activity is characterized with Amyloclastic force, that is the volume of the 0,1% starch solution in milliters that is hydrolyzed by lml of saliva at 38?C during 30 min. Amyloclastic force is denoted D30/38?.
Description of the works
Prepare a row tubes with diluted saliva. Pour 1ml of distilled water in each of 10 tubes.
Pour 1 ml of the ten-fold diluted saliva in the first tube. Mix. Transfer 1 ml of the mixture to the second tube etc. Pour 1 ml mixture out of the 10 th tube.
Calculate the quantity (in ml) of diluted saliva in each tube.
After the row of the tubes with saliva is ready add 1 ml of distilled water and 2 ml of 0,1% starch solution to each tube. Add the starch solution as quickly as possible, beginning from the last tube. Mix.
Add 1 drop of the 1% iodine solution after 30 min.
Observe the color and put down the results in a table.
